Welcome to Sierra Pacific Synod Racial Ethnic Ministry Working Group Blog

Welcome!
This is the first post of the blog for the Racial Ethnic Ministry Working Group (REM-WG) of the Sierra Pacific Synod of the ELCA.
REM-WG serves to: Insure the full inclusion and participation of people of color in decision making and coordination of strategies for ministry among various racial/ethnic groups and assist the Sierra Pacific Synod and its congregations to overcome barriers of racial separation, mistrust and misunderstanding.
This working group exists to provide guidance in strategizing, implementing and supporting racial/ethnic ministries in the synod, its congregations and agencies as they seek to live out the Gospel’s great commandment and commission and promise. The working group consists of three teams: Mission Strategies, Cultural Competence and Anti-Racism. A Coordinating Committee serves to provide a unified vision, to promote internal communications and to hold members accountable for furthering the vision.
The information above is taken from the brochure for REM-WG and is an overview of who we, whose we are and the work we do.

What I personally want to say is that it is a joy to work with this passionate group of people seeking to overcome barriers of discrimination and work towards a vision of equality and wholeness in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and in our communities. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is on the move and we pray continues to move us forward in this vision of love and wholeness.
Please join in, share on this blog.
Sincerely,
Reverend Sharon S. Stalkfleet
